For more than 40 years, the pastors of St. Leo's Parish have endorsed the taking of a second collection on Holy Days to support the works of the St. Vincent dePaul. These have been a principal source of income for the charitable works of the society.
Both the members of St. Vincent dePaul and those who have received the blessings and assistance of our generous parishioners through their prayers and material support are forever grateful. As a result of your giving either directly or through Forward in Faith or by other means, the society has been able to assist over 100 local families with over $70,000 in aid in 2002.
The aid delivered in many forms that included compassionate assistance to better their situation, monthly food allocations, Thanksgiving and Christmas meal baskets, emergency transportation, clothing and shelter relief, etc.
We ask especially, that you continue to offer prayers to those in need as the spiritual help is as important as the material help we offer. Thank you for caring.
Sincerely,
St. Vincent dePaul Society
There are no set in stone rules and regulations for the cemetery - just common sense rules regarding not interfering with grass mowing and other peoples' plots.
If shrubs are planted, make sure that they are kept trimmed, so as not to be too large. We discourage stones or bricks around flowers as they hamper the safety of mowing.
Flowers should be kept neat and close to the grave, again so that the mowing can be done. Your flowers and shrubs should never extend onto the next plot.
To plant a tree you must receive permission from our pastor.
For holidays such as Easter or Christmas - wreaths and flowers are permitted - again use a size according to the headstone, and do not interfere with the next plot. Decorations should be removed after a reasonable time.
Moderation and courtesy to the next plot should always be considered. As always if you have any specific questions you may call the cemetery office at 978-537-7257.
